Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Table

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in power within the city.

Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to begin their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for participants who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a individual motive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile location.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that rule the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by the family.

This means them few options but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the rest of the players to assemble the Seekers and Schemers groups.

Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on October 24.
