Devastating Update on Cargo Plane Incident: Fatalities Climbs to 13

The tally of victims resulting from the UPS cargo plane that caught fire and plummeted has now climbed to 13, per official statements.

Official's Announcement

Traveling to the Workers’ vigil, I received word of a 13th person that died as a outcome of the UPS flight 2976 crash,” stated the local official in a public communication. “My heart is with the families, associates and peers of all who were killed in this week’s tragedy. We will get through this as one.”

Deceased Confirmed

An announcement from the company listed the officers on board the aircraft as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our thoughts reach out to each employee who has been affected and everyone in our Louisville region – assisting you and ensuring you obtain the care and resources you need is our main concern,” the organization’s communication read.

Inquiry Findings

Federal investigators announced that the jet’s wing burst into flames and an engine fell off just after takeoff from the airfield, causing the aircraft to crash and erupt into a fireball.

The NTSB has said it is examining the plane’s service record, which was in Texas for repairs several weeks before the crash.

Flight tracking records indicated the jet was on the ground in the Texas city from 3 September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this jet was located in San Antonio,” remarked an investigator on Thursday, without providing a specific period. “We will review all elements of service that was completed, even the San Antonio period, straight to the date of the flight.”

Retrieval of Vital Components

The pilot’s recorder and flight data recorder were found, and the power plant was found on the tarmac.

The units – known as black boxes – were built to endure collision damage and severe temperatures from fires, and they looked to be in one piece when discovered among the wreckage. Investigators plan on reviewing information from the black boxes.

Jet’s last data recordings showed an height of 475 ft and a speed of 210 miles per hour before the impact.

Service History

According to FAA files dated last month, a fissure on a component within the tank area required repairs.

Headquartered in Singapore ST Engineering, which stated it supplies aircraft servicing for the company’s MD-11 and manages a repair facility in San Antonio, declined to speak, but stated it would cooperate fully when investigators reached out it.

Teamsters Local 89, which stands for staff, commenced the vigil with a period of reflection at the evening hour, the rough time of the incident previously.
